Hi! I’m Samaria.
I’m the type of therapist who knows it can be so hard to ask for help–we might feel embarrassed or like we should be able to figure things out on our own. It doesn’t need to be this way!
My clients tell me that I make them feel comfortable enough to open up when they were feeling nervous to do so.
I provide trauma therapy for first-gen adults:
I help first generation individuals who want to break the cycle of intergenerational trauma.
My clients start therapy feeling sadness, grief and resentment. They worry that they are unlovable and they feel like they can’t ask anyone for help. They think something is wrong with them. They might feel shame about their relationships and sex or be going through a big life transition. They want to feel closer to others without having conflict–their family or loved ones don’t understand them.
Through therapy, they feel confident, loved, and connected. They know they matter to others and don’t feel as alone.
I also provide couples therapy:
I help Latinx, BIPOC, and bicultural couples with emotional and physical intimacy and connection.
My couples start therapy feeling resentful, sad, and frustrated. They don’t feel understood. They worry they are unloveable or they’ll never get past their issues. They complain about not being on the same page with their sex drives and feeling disconnected from each other. They are always arguing about the same things.
Through therapy, they feel connected, supported, and sexually satisfied. What they wanted was possible!
On a personal note…
I am a hopeless romantic.
I can understand the challenges in navigating immigrant family relationships, interpersonal relationships, systemic oppression, and cultural identity. As a Salvadoran daughter of immigrants and a native Spanish speaker, these are experiences I am familiar with and will support you as you heal.
I have two fur babies, my dog (Nala) and my cat (Taz). I find joy in being outdoors and trying new foods. I recently got into sushi, and I love it!
