(& no, I am not talking about the type of discomfort that puts you in dangerous situations)
I am talking about the good kind of discomfort, such as life transitions (i.e. getting a new job, starting a new school), breaking unhealthy generational patterns, leaving a relationship that is no longer serving you, etc.
But let’s be clear- these are all hard!
& sometimes it is even hard to distinguish the difference between the good and bad type of discomfort because our thoughts and experiences tend to trickle in..
We might find ourselves catastrophizing the situation or thinking about the worst possible outcome
Oftentimes, we are caught between staying comfortable where we are vs. choosing to do something outside of our comfort zone
I am here to tell you that all of these feelings and emotions you are having are valid! They are completely normal.
Trust me- even I’ve been there as a therapist.
This discomfort you are feeling is only happening because it is protecting you from what it thinks to be unsafe. However, this discomfort is what is allowing you to get to the point of growth. It can maybe even help you get out of a place in your life that is no longer making you happy. You deserve this and I would love to be there for you as you sit through the discomfort and growth process!
