Jessie therapist sacramento ca

Hi! I’m Jessie.

I’m the type of therapist who enjoys taking on the complexity of life, emotions, and relationships.

My clients tell me that I am direct; they’ve said things like “I didn’t think I had anything to talk about, but then we always end up unpacking a lot of stuff,” and “You always help me think about things in new and different ways.”

I provide therapy for adults:

I help people who are struggling to adjust to major changes or life stressors.

You feel inadequate, stressed, and overwhelmed. You like to feel in control; so when life throws something your way that messes that up, you stress out! You may be anticipating a big decision that needs to be made, or maybe you are experiencing an unexpected change in their life. Regardless of the stressor, you need help sorting through your thoughts and feelings, and being able to create more flexibility with how you navigate their life. You have really high expectations for yourself and sometimes that gets in my way. You can be really hard on myself. People think you’re successful, but you don’t feel that way.

Through therapy, you can feel understood by others, like you’re good enough, and more relaxed.

I also provide couples therapy:

I help established couples navigate major life stressors that have created emotional distance or impacted trust.

You’re feeling lonely, vulnerable, and confused. You’ve been together for several years, maybe even decades. You’ve had a positive relationship for the most part, but something has happened to create a rupture. This might have been a single event, but it could also be many things building up over time. Either way, you’re feeling lost – you don’t know how to connect, you struggle to feel seen or heard, and maybe you don’t know if they can trust their partner with their feelings. You want to find their way back to one another, you just don’t know how to get there. You’ve worked really hard to build this life together and in many ways you’ve have been successful, but it just doesn’t feel that way in your relationship. You want to feel close and connected.

Through therapy, you can feel emotionally connected, like you can talk openly about anything, and you can enjoy being around one another again.

On a personal note…

Some of the things that fill up my life include traveling with my husband, trying to keep plants alive, being out in nature, cats, food, more food, and all of the books! I will never pass up an opportunity to step into a local bookstore, and if you add in a delicious chai latte then I’m good to go!

Like many therapists, I was drawn to this field through my own experiences navigating difficult relationships and life experiences. I firmly believe that no matter how challenging a situation may be, we have the opportunity to learn and grow from it if we are willing to slow down and look at it from different perspectives – and this truly is the way I try to live my life.
